The Vancouver Waldorf School of British Columbia, Canada, is seeking a Full Time Eurythmy Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year to fill a maternity leave. The available position could include Early Childhood, grade school, and high school classes, and could develop into a long-term position. Opportunities for an immediate start are also be available for the right candidate.
The applicant must have a degree in Eurythmy from an accredited Anthroposophical Institution, and be able to acquire a BC Teaching Certificate upon hire. Waldorf classroom teaching experience is preferred, and the applicant will be expected to prepare lesson plans per the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education curriculums. Mentoring will be provided. The applicant must have the ability to work with children with a range of abilities across the different age groups. In addition to teaching, other duties will include:
- recess supervision
- committee work
- attendance at section meetings and full faculty meetings
- regular professional development
- report writing and parent meetings
The Vancouver Waldorf School has a long-standing, positive relationship with Eurythmy, and is committed to fostering a continued appreciation for Eurythmy in its curriculum and community. We have a warm and skilled piano accompanist, as well as two spaces for Eurythmy lessons, one with a carpeted floor and one with a sprung floor.
The Vancouver Waldorf School was founded in 1968. Currently we have a growing student body of 250 students, from Pre School up to Grade Twelve, as well as a dedicated faculty and staff. The Vancouver Waldorf School is located in beautiful North Vancouver where the mountains meet the sea, in the heart of the outdoor activity capital of the world. The city of Vancouver is host to a variety of Anthroposophical organizations, including a Christian Community Church and an Anthroposophical Society Branch. Also, in the neighborhood is The Cascadia Society for Social Working, a Camphill community with a long-standing and close working relationship with the school.
